What to Look for in a Window and Door Service

It isn't every day that someone repairs their windows or doors. And most people replace their windows and doors even less frequently. Let's face it, it's not always cheap to get these things done, even when you've found the best deal around. So when you're looking for window and door service or repairs, you need to find a company that will give you real value.

If you choose wisely you get good prices, good service, a good warranty, and a product that will last. Choose poorly, and get burned. We all know how that goes.

So how do you choose the best window and door company in Palm Beach County for your project? There are several ways to narrow it down.

Have they been around for a while or are they a fly-by-night? A company that is brand new may have been around a lot longer than they want you to know, and may have changed their name to hide from bad jobs they've done in the past. Or they may not have the experience to get the job done correctly and efficiently. An experienced company may charge a little more than someone just starting out, but it's often cheaper in the long-run to get the job done right.

A quality window and door service company will have either a positive or neutral rating with the local Better Business Bureau. In the very least the company will not have lots of complaints and negative marks against it.

If you check for reviews on the Internet the company will have more positives then negatives as well. Sometimes people don't want to leave reviews, so don't be afraid if they only have a few. As long as they're mostly very good, that's a good sign. They say you can't please everyone. So don't hold one negative review against a company forever. But a company should not have so many bad reviews that it's obvious they do bad work or don't care about their customers.

Check the company's site for testimonials. Do they seem realistic? Is the company willing to give you the number of some references if you ask? If it's a big job you're planning, it may be a good idea to call some of their past clients and speak to them directly. Any company that's worth their salt shouldn't have a problem with giving you a couple of references.

Is the prospective Window and Door Specialist licensed, insured, and bonded? You can usually find that information on their website, but if it's not there be sure to ask. If they're not licensed, they shouldn't be working in the industry. If they're not insured and bonded and they damage something expensive or someone gets injured because of something they did, you'll be paying for the damages. Or you may wind up trying to recover money from them in court.

Do they fix and carry well-known brands? Many companies only carry unknown brands because they can make more profit and quote a little lower on their jobs at the same time. But do you really want to put second-rate windows and doors in your home?

Are they well liked on rating sites such as Angies List? This may not seem important at first glance, but it can show that they are experienced, and have many satisfied customers.

Are they credentialed members of any related associations? This can be a clue as to their seriousness in their chosen line of business.

At R C Windows & Doors, we want you to rest assured that we can pass the above tests and more. If you can't find the information you need on our website, just give us a call and ask. We'll be happy to answer. We love new customers, and we want to make you a repeat customer as well.
